Miami Rice Malaysian and Chinese Restaurant Reviews

For those who like their chinese bland and basic and with the decor of a shoebox, this is the place for you. Miami Rice has one thing going for it - its name. Very creative and that is more than you can say for the menu. There is nothing even resembling a special dish here. When you have to pre-order crispy skin chicken the alarm bells ring. I wont waste any more time reviewing this restaurant. I wasted too much time eating there. This joint gives your average suburban Chinese takeaway a bad name.

I had high expectations for Miami Rice as had read some outstanding reviews like 'best food I have ever eaten'. I went in with 2 friends and we ordered a variety of dishes - sate chicken entree which was pretty damn tasty. For mains we had the Mongolian lamb which was a real standout dish for me, full of flavour and great quality lamb. We also had the BBQ Pork in plum sauce which was just OK. We had wanted to order the deep fried chicken but the chef who greeted us at the table said that we had to pre-order the crispy skin chicken as they double cooked it. huh? That was a big disappointed as have had crispy skin chicken in so many other Chinese restaurants and never had to pre-order. The chef highly recommended we have his butter chicken dish instead. This dish was pretty ordinary, not the Indian butter chicken we were expecting but just an average stir fried chicken in a very mild butter sauce. It took quite a while for our food to come out. The waitress who brought our food apologies for the slowness (atleast they apologies) as they were short of staff that night. The restaurant was only half full so they must have been down 2 or more staff to make it as slow as it was. Overall this is your stock standard Chinese restaurant located in a Motel on the high. It is not expensive and the food is tasty though not enough for me to return.
