  Koreana BBQ Restaurant Reviews

Review submitted 22nd September 2011 - from Marcel G

My wife and little girl (2) walked past this place, and were immediately taken by the delicious smells coming from the place. We were impressed by the fact that it was full, and there were plenty of Koreans eating there, which is what you want when you eat Korean. We went back the next day at 5:30 and sat down, and were attended to by a very friendly waitress, who explained the BBQ Menu to us, which involved a small gas burner and a hot stone. We decided on the best beef (menu item one, about $25) and pork ribs (menu item 3, about $17), which she recommended. It was fully enough to get full with, and we ordered some rice to go with it ($2). It included potato jewels in a sweet marinade, soy, Kenichi (this was truly fantastic, but could have been spicier in my opinion), a nice salad, and a pickled vegetable side, all served in small bowls. It was all SOOOOO delicious. She even sizzled it up for us, and cut it up for us. She was also helpful in advising us on how to use the chop-sticks when we asked her to. There was cutlery there as a backup.

They had a fine selection of Korean wines, and some rather boring beers to go with it. We went with the budget cold water option, which to our suprise, was filtered, and not the Gold Coast\'s usual fare.

As far as ambience goes, Koreana BBQ Restaurant seriously has a problem, with very plain tables and chairs and walls, and an annoying radio in the background that really should have been pumping out some Korean hits. Forget a romantic event, unless you were perhaps sitting on one of the two tables outsides, where you get the foot traffic instead. It is not recommended if you have very small children, as they do not have any high chairs, though I guess you could bring your own booster seat.

Terrific food, great for something different, just don\'t expect romance at the restaurant.

Have you dined at Koreana BBQ Restaurant Surfers Paradise Gold Coast?
